Good Evening Blues! We are edging closer and closer to the start of the season, but it feels like just yesterday City were taking care of business closing the last season out. Today’s a pretty quiet day for news, with a couple new reports on some familiar faces…
Set on Selling
Juventus has not hidden its wishes to cash in on Joao Cancelo this summer, with the player not fitting Maurizio Sarri’s plans. The club are looking for €55-€60 million without additions, with Barcelona believed to be leading Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the pursuit of the Portuguese right-back, according to Calciomercato. However, each team has their struggles, with Barcelona and City both needing to sell a right-back of their own to make room, and Bayern needing to focus funds in other areas. If this is a race, each club must have sent a turtle to represent them…
Maguire Shows His Frustration
For all of the talk around Harry Maguire and his future at Leicester City, he has kept very quiet and very professional. His club have played hardball with the two Manchester clubs, believing they should receive a world record fee for the services of their centre-back. It seems enough is enough for Maguire now, and according to The Sun, he has angrily accused the club of pricing him out of a mega move. He has told the club and teammates that he wishes to leave, after both City and United have had £70 million offers rejected. Which side of Manchester will Harry Maguire be playing on at the start of next season, or will Leicester double down and hold onto their star defender?
Otamendi to Have a Spanish Reunion?
Nicolas Otamendi played an integral part in Manchester City’s Centurion campaign a year ago, but took a step backwards last season, much due to Aymeric Laporte’s arrival along with Vincent Kompany’s fitness levels holding up down the stretch. Due to this, Otamendi has been open to leaving the club after 4 years at the Etihad. Coming from Dario Olé this morning, the Argentinian would prefer a return to his former club Valencia, despite other offers across Europe. Superdeporte elaborates on this as well, reporting Otamendi has “important offers on the table” from Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain, but he has not had any interest in listening to them. His dream is to return to Valencia and represent them in the Champions League. The Beard’s time at the Etihad has been up and down, but he has made major contributions to the City side during his time and will leave some big shoes to fill.
Veteran Defender is a Hot Commodity
Since Dani Alves made the decision to depart from Barcelona, he has been making sure to experience different leagues, and it looks like he will continue with that trend this summer. After confirming his time in Paris has come to and end, a host of Premier League clubs are interested in making England his next destination. The 36-year-old has interest from Manchester City, Tottenham, and Arsenal, according to Mundo Deportivo. However, City are unlikely to make a move for the Brazilian, with Danilo looking unlikely to leave the club.
16-year-old Liam Delap has confirmed his move to Manchester City from Derby County via his Instagram!
“Buzzing to have signed for @ManCity. Thanks to everyone for the 10 years I spent at @dcfcofficial. Can’t wait for the new season 🦈”
The English centre forward made 7 appearances in the U18 Premier League, getting a goal in his 306 minutes played.
Manu Garcia looks like he will finally be finding a permanent home after his numerous loan stints. Sporting Gijòn have advanced in the last few hours for the Spanish playmaker, according to ElDesmarque Sporting. City have put a price tag of €4 million for Manu, and the deal would be a loan with a “compulsory purchase option”. If the amount is correct, this would be the most expensive transfer in Gijòn’s history.
Phillipe Sandler has followed former captain Vincent Kompany to Belgium side Anderlecht, according to Nieuwsblad.be. The deal will be a one year loan with no option to buy, and could be announced this afternoon.
Alan Nixon has brought us a couple reports about potential incomings and outgoings this morning. First, Preston North End are keen to complete a second loan move to winger Brandon Barker. The 22-year-old has made multiple loan moves in recent years but impressed with the Championship side last term. Secondly, City want to close a deal for Ecuador international José Cifuentes, and are looking for a club in Croatia to potentially loan the 20-year-old to. However, the youngster himself is thought to be interested in a move to Scottish Champions Celtic.
Lastly today, coming from the Mirror, Liverpool have joined a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, in showing an interest in Fedor Chalov. The 21-year-old is rated at £20 million, and has interest from all of Europe, including clubs such as Borrusia Dortmund and AS Monaco.
