Two Days Till D-day – The Transfer Round-Up (29/06/19)

Only two days now until July 1st and it feels everything around City is on hold till then. New kits and new players galore could meet on us in the first week of July. But until then, here are todays transfer news…

No Everton Offer Yet

Manchester City have been closely monitoring Gremio forward Everton but are yet to make an official offer according to Mauro Cezar. Club scouts have watched Everton at club and international level and may make another approach after the Copa America.

A City scout has said “He [Everton] doesn’t have anything else to do here” when scouting the player in Copa Libertadores, referring that Everton needed a bigger challenge. ‘If a bid of €40 million had been offered by City, Grêmio would have accepted it by now.”

Seems the balls in City’s court with that one then.

You’ve Been Warned Newcastle

Manchester City have warned fellow Premier League team Newcastle United to look elsewhere with them eyeing up Mikel Arteta to replace the departing Rafa Benitez.

Arteta nearly moved to Arsenal last summer before Unai Emery took the reigns and Guardiola is always in high praise of the Spaniards quality. There’s also hints he could end up being the natural successor to Pep when he leaves the club.

The Chronicle reports that there has been no contact as of yet however between the two clubs.

City’s Opening Bid Rejected

City have had a €6m bid rejected for Palmeiras striker Iván Angulo according to Jorge Nicola. The club recently bought the 20-year-old for €3m, but rejected the bid as they believe he will be worth more in the future.

An article earlier this week, reported in a previous transfer round-up, says that Txiki and his team are already analysing transfer targets for 2023, could Angulo be one of these men?

Harrison Return Ever Closer

Jack Harrison has undergone a medical at Leeds United ahead of a proposed season-long loan according to Leeds Live.

The midfielder spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Elland Road, and will return for a second loan spell after impressing manager Marco Bielsa.
