Focused on Leroy – Transfer Round-Up (14/06/2019)

Another week in the books, and it’s uncertain if Manchester City are any closer to making their first big splash in what should be a crazy summer. Talks continue, a contract extension, a familiar face pops back up, and a youngster joins the ranks. Here’s your daily transfer roundup!

MORE CANCELO

Juventus right-back João Cancelo remains the outstanding target in that position. Sam Lee of Goal reports that the clubs have been locked in negotiations over the transfer fee, with the Italian champions seeking payment of over €50 million for their 25-year-old Portuguese international.

Cancelo leaving the Allianz Stadium this summer is ‘almost certain’ to come about according to TuttoSport, but what hasn’t been decided is his destination – Manchester City will have to compete with local rivals Manchester United in order to win the former Valencia man’s signature.

WALKER STAYS, DANILO GOES?

Sam Lee claims that in order for the Cancelo deal to go through, City’s current backup right-back Danilo will need to be moved on. However, according to Sky Sports, one of the Brazilian’s potential suitors are uninterested in a possible switch – Inter Milan. The capital club’s new boss Antonio Conte has reportedly pulled the plug on the move, and City will need to find somebody willing to pick up the 27-year-old.

One right-back who will be hanging around at the Etihad is Kyle Walker. Goal reports that the England man has agreed to a new two-year extension to his existing contract, seemingly unfazed by rumours linking City with other options. BAYERN DECIDE ON NUMBER ONE TARGET

It has long been assumed that Timo Werner of RB Leipzig would be making his way to the Allianz Arena in the very near future, but this has been put into doubt.

According to BILD, Bayern Munich have made Manchester City winger Leroy Sané their priority this summer and are focusing on him completely. Werner has reacted very badly to the news of this, and it now looks like Werner could stay at Leipzig this season.

CITY TO RETURN TO FRENCH MIDFIELDER

Manchester City are very familiar with Tanguy Ndombele, getting to see first hand his ability in the Champions League group stage last season. According to Footy Insider, the Citizens want to “blow Tottenham away” to sign the defensive midfielder this summer. It would take a figure in the region of £70 million to convince Lyon to sell.

RODRI-MMINENT

The trio of the usual names was completed late Friday evening with an update from Marca. The Spanish newspaper claims Atletico midfielder Rodri will make his decision on his future ‘imminently’, with option of remaining at his current club a possibility.

Four clubs are said to be willing to pay the €70 million release clause: Manchester City, PSG, Bayern Munich and, as it seems with every single City transfer story at the moment, Manchester United.

YOUNGSTER WATCH

City are keeping an eye on Boca Juniors teenager Agustin Almendra. The midfielder, who has a release clause in his contract of around €20million, is also being courted by Porto and a host of Italian clubs. Napoli are believed to be in with the best chance of signing the Argentine, but no bid has yet been launched.

Manchester City have signed striker Daniel Ogwuru from Bolton for around £100,000. The news comes from Sam Lee of Goal, who says that the 14-year-old was available for free due to Bolton’s financial situation, but City have paid an initial fee and included bonuses. City plan for him to be with the U15 squad for the upcoming season.
