Transfer Roundup (07/06/19)

Full steam ahead for the deal to sign an Italian right back? Atletico annoyed by Rodri’s hesitancy? A legend departs. All that and more in today’s transfer roundup…

Cancelo on the horizon?

In the past few days the quietly whispered story linking João Cancelo to the Etihad has picked up some traction. Nico Schira reported that the blues have overtaken Manchester United in the race for the Italian and have offered him a contract in the region of £5 million per year up until 2024.

Gazzeta in Italy are also reporting that the deal between the two clubs should be put in place after Pep Guardiola made a ‘specific request’ to Sheikh Mansour to sign him. However, the Italian giants are still trying to hold out to the £60 million price tag initially reported.

An agreement should be found between Manchester City and Juventus for Joao Cancelo, following an ‘acceleration’ in talks after Pep Guardiola’s ‘specific request’ to Sheikh Mansour to sign the right-back.

Juventus however, are still demanding €60m for the player.

Atletico are getting impatient

The never-ending saga linking Rodri to Manchester City provided its latest update today as PipiEstrada reports that Atletico are ‘annoyed’ that Rodri has yet to make a decision. This follows on from the players quotes a few days ago asking the club for ‘space’. City still, however, see Rodri as their number one defensive midfield target.

The Belgian is the only senior player that has been released, however there is some interesting youngsters to note that have also not been given new deals. Cameron Humphreys-Grant who made his senior team debut at just 16 years old against Real Madrid in a pre-season fixture is one of them along with Tom Dele-Bashiru, Luke Brattan, Charlie Oliver and Aaron Nemane.
