As expected, it’s been a very quiet Sunday with just two transfer updates to bring you. Even on the slow news days, there’s updates on the Leroy Sane situation and a relatively new, and far from realistic name enters the fray.
Here’s your daily update on everything transfer-related at Manchester City.
NO BREAKTHROUGH WITH LEROY
Despite encouraging updates surrounding the future of Leroy Sane in recent days, it appears there may be the biggest setback we’ve seen we first heard news of a potential departure. According to Simon Mullock of the Mirror, the latest round of contract talks between Manchester City and the player’s representatives have failed to see an agreement.
As expected, Bayern Munich are said to step up their efforts to sign the 23-year-old.
A MOVE FOR MADDISON?
A quiet Sunday opened up with a surprising claim from footyinsider247, who stated that Manchester City and Tottenham could be interested in making a move for Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison. The 22-year-old has been one of the stars within the Foxes side over the course of the 18/19 campaign, contributing to 14 goals in 38 appearances (7 goals/7 assists).
Officials at the King Power are that determined to prevent a move for Maddison this summer that they have placed a £60 million price tag on the Englishman – this coming after enquiries from Manchester City and the London side.
Manchester City have been linked with the promising midfielder on two occasions, at his previous two clubs. In 2016, it was reported by the Independent that officials at the Etihad were monitoring Maddison during his time at Coventry City while in 2018, James Ducker of the Telegraph suggested that Manchester City were one of four Premier League clubs monitoring him in the Championship while at Norwich City.
