Transfer Round-Up (30/05/19)

It’s official, we have our first major loan departure of the summer transfer window with Patrick Roberts making the switch to a fellow Premier League club, but it’s not quite as straight forward as that with another update on the player’s Manchester City future. In this edition of the transfer round-up we also have updates (yes, more than one) on Leroy Sane, Danilo and Eliaquim Mangala.

PATRICK ROBERTS TO NORWICH CITY

We all expected it after yesterday’s developments on this one, but today it was confirmed by Norwich City that Patrick Roberts has moved to Carrow Road on a season-long loan move. The youngster stated upon moving to the club; “I’ve been with Angus Gunn for a few years at Manchester City. I spoke to him before coming here and he had only good things to say about the city and the club itself.”

It was confirmed at the same time by Manchester City, that Patrick Roberts had extended his contract with the Premier League champions by a further two years, until 2022. Although many City fans have presumed his chances of succeeding at the Etihad Stadium are slim, it may just take a successful loan spell in the Premier League to convince Pep Guardiola that he can still be part of the club’s long-term plans.

NO AGREEMENT FOR DANILO

Serie A side Inter Milan have reportedly ‘cooled’ their interest in Manchester City full-back Danilo, this according to FcInterNews.it It has been suggested that an agreement between the Italian side and the player himself was reached. A four-year deal worth in the region of €4m per season was accepted by the Brazilian and his representatives, however issues in the deal came when an agreement between the two clubs was discussed.

It is suggested that officials from the San Siro were prepared to offer a fee in and around €18 million, while Manchester City were looking to meet around the £25 million mark.

A RETURN TO PORTUGAL FOR MANGALA?

Portuguese press once again provide us with an update on the future of a Manchester City player discussed in Wednesday morning’s editions. This time it surrounds the less than surprising future of French central defender Eliaquim Mangala, who has had a difficult time during his years spent in the English game. Ojogo suggest that the player is looking to revitalise his career in the Portuguese league by rejoining former club FC Porto.

As opposed to yesterday’s update on the future of the 29-year-old suggesting that issues regarding a deal would revolve around the player’s willingness to take a pay-cut, Ojogo suggest that the main issues would be regarding the completion of fitness examinations. Both issues surrounding this deal would be more than likely, especially given the Frenchman’s injury problems during his time in England.

IT’S ALL GONE A BIT INSANÉ

Finally, some encouraging news regarding the future of Leroy Sane. Torben Hoffmann of Sky Sports Germany reported that the chances of German champions Bayern Munich signing the Manchester City winger are non-existent given his lack of interest in making the move back to the Bundesliga this summer.

Later in the evening there was a bombardment of information surrounding this saga, just when you thought that one update was enough for the day. Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester City had turned down a bid of £70.7 million from Bayern Munich, with officials at the Allianz Arena considering whether to make a new, improved bid. This was however, quickly shut down by Jack Gaughan, who stated that although Manchester City are awaiting a bid, they are yet to officially receive one.

In amongst all this, Christian Falk of BILD commented on this morning’s story stating that the winger was not interested in a move back to the Bundesliga; “That’s not correct. The player is currently on vacation with his family [in Dubai] and is considering it.”

AN OFFICIAL BID FOR JOÃO CANCELO?!

The Italian press seem pretty adamant that Manchester City are seriously interested in moving for Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo. Tuttosport go as far as saying officials at the Etihad have made a formal bid of €60 million for the player’s services. Although Juventus are said to have not responded, the offer from Manchester City is said to be ‘indispensable‘.
