It’s safe to say that today has been a much quieter day in comparison to the developments of yesterday. That being said, we have had news of a return of a club legend, the whereabouts of the enigma that is Benjamin Mendy and yet another name thrown into the Etihad transfer rumour mill.
Earlier this week, Sami Mokbel of the Mail suggested that Benjamin Mendy could join David Silva on being sent to a warm weather training camp to enhance his recovery from his latest injury setback. Details of this warm weather training camp were said to be confirmed within 48 hours, although the Mail suggested the Frenchman would be travelling to either Spain or the United Arab Emirates.
In the early hours of this morning it was confirmed by Benjamin Mendy’s Instagram story update that the full-back had travelled to Dubai. Unlike the last time everyone was quick to pick up on the whereabouts of the Frenchman via an Instagram location, this time he actually is where he says he is! Although there has been nothing to confirm he is in Dubai for recovery purposes, it backs up the reports of the Mail earlier this week.
Later on in the morning, we brought you news that was welcomed by every single Manchester City fan on twitter – the news that Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have reportedly offered club legend Pablo Zabaleta the chance to join the club’s first-team coaching staff. The Argentine does seem to be very undecided on his future however, with West Ham keen to offer him a further 12 months at the London Stadium. Zabaleta himself has said to Fox Argentina stating that his family are ‘very happy’ living in London.
And finally, it wouldn’t be a news round-up without developments on Manchester City transfer rumours. Well, here’s two more for you…
Firstly we have an update on Juan Sforza (17) of Newell’s Old Boys. Just over a week ago it was reported by Milan News that Manchester City were one of five clubs interested in signing the Argentine youngster. However, an update from Foot Mercato has stated that Paris Saint-Germain have not come forward to show interest in the teenager. They also reported that representatives from Spain and England would travel to an upcoming U17 tournament to further monitor him, although no clubs were named.
And reports linking teenagers with moves to Manchester City didn’t stop there. It was reported later on in the day by James Robson of the Evening Standard that the blues were keen to beat local rivals Manchester United and Barcelona to the signature of Benfica and Portugal attacking midfielder Ronaldo Camara (16).
